Tuesday Conversation Group Meetings

The meetings are held at "La Maison du Citoyen", 35 Rue du Collège, in Carpentras, every Tuesday afternoon (except school holidays), where we discuss topics in French and English, to give the members a chance to exercise their language skills whilst assisting one another. Everybody contributes in turn and we have open and informal discussions. We sometimes circulate written exercises or short texts to read in both English and French.

The Conversation Group of the Association Culturelle Franco-Britannique du Comtat Venaissin kicks off a new year of Tuesday meetings next week, on the 8th September 2026 at our usual time in our usual place, that is from 5pm to 6:30pm at the Maison du Citoyen in rue du Collège in Carpentras. Our room has long been No. 204, but please confirm that's where we will be at the reception when you arrive. We welcome new participants, please come along to see what it's like, and, of course, it will be a pleasure also to see familiar faces again after a long hot summer.

For the first session this year, the thme is an obvious one - to talk about something you saw or experienced this summer, not necessarily 'where did you go?', but maybe something as simple as a memorable bird or flower sighting or a song or meal, whatever you would like to speak about. We always encourage spoken contributions in English from Francophones and in French from Anglophones, and in either French or English from those with other linguistic origins. It's an opportunity to improve your language skills in a friendly environment, just conversations, perhaps with gentle suggestions or corrections, but no pressure - it's not a class.
